Notes and checklists you talk to

Free-form notes and markdown checklists that you create and edit by saying so. Notes link to tasks, files and each other.

A note is where anything that is not an action goes: a thought, a recipe, the wifi password at the cabin, a running list. You say it, it is saved; you ask for it later, it comes back.

Save it before you forget it
  1. Save this: the cabin wifi is Lakeview-5G, password birch2026. Key is under the blue pot.

    via WhatsApp
  2. Saved as a note.

Checklists

“Add milk to the grocery list” finds the right note and appends a line. “Tick off bread” flips its checkbox. The whole list is one markdown document you can also edit by hand.

Checklists are notes you talk to
  1. Add milk and eggs to the grocery list

  2. Added to “Groceries”.

Linked, not filed

Notes carry tags and wiki links to tasks, files, automations and other notes. A meeting note links to the tasks that came out of it; a project note embeds the automation that reports on it. Search covers titles, bodies and tags, and links show up as backlinks on the target.

In the app

The Notes tab lists cards with title, snippet and tags. Opening a note gives you the editor, the rendered preview, backlinks, and embedded automations showing their last run.

Questions

Is a checklist a special kind of note?

No — it is a markdown task list inside a note (`- [ ] milk`). That means it renders as checkboxes, can be edited by hand, and the assistant can add or tick items when you ask.

Can I write notes in markdown myself?

Yes. The web app has a markdown editor with a toolbar; the assistant edits the same text.

How do notes link to other things?

Wiki links: `[[task:…]]`, `[[note:…]]`, `[[file:…]]`, `[[automation:…]]`. The assistant adds them when it creates related objects; you can add them by name in the editor.
